Product Details
The poppy has deep historic roots with some records indicating that cultivation of the beautiful flowers extend back
in time to Mesopotamia around 4900 BC - 5300 BC. Some historians believe that this timeframe and location
have ties to the original Garden of Eden which was famous for its lush floral arrays.
This silk poppy was carefully hand selected to be added to the Karen Marie Le Fleur Collection after an
extended period of searching through silk flower suppliers and manufacturers from around the world for several months.
Close your eyes and use your fingertips to touch this uniquely shaped flower and you just might think that you have
the real thing.
The flower consists of an array of approximately six crepe inspired silk petals with a frilly "ruffled" edge.
The hand made petals that are supported by thin invisible wires range from approximately 3" to 3 1/2" in width and approximately
2 1/4 to 2 1/2" in height. The petals have been hand wrapped in a circular fashion around a green stem base to
form a traditional poppy shape.
The vibrantly hued petals are arranged so that the poppy gentle opens into full view and displays the inner
yellow poppy stem. Because of the hidden wire on each petal, the flower can be gently shaped with your fingertips
to open or close the flower to your desired shape.
The entire flower has a total span of approximately 4" in diameter. This would be considered a medium sized
flower and would be ideal for most hair lengths except possibly very short.
The poppy is carefully attached to a nickel based traditional salon clip that measures approximately 1 3/4" to 1
7/8" that has been wrapped in soft green floral tape (to make the clip "hair friendly") and carefully
hot glued to the base of the poppy with a satin leave. The poppy can be clipped onto the back of a gorgeous
updo, French or non-traditional twist or on a hat, belt, shoes or handbag.
Imported from the Orient, the flower was hand assembled in the USA.
