Mason Pearson hairbrush (bristle/nylon mix), August 2, 2003

I have baby-fine hair, and since I kept my hair very long during childhood, hair brushing was often akin to torture. My hair easily knotted and we could never find a hair brush that worked any differently from any other. Then my mom bought me a Mason Pearson brush (mixed bristle/nylon), after I ran it through my hair once -- once through was all it took to convince both of us: I think our exact words were something like "Omigod; we'll take it." I've had the same brush for about 15 years now, and it's still wonderful (no kidding on either point). I recently met a 3 year old girl with the same kind of hair as mine, and brushed her hair. Her mom said it was the first time she'd seen the little girl not cry about having her hair brushed! They were both used to pain, and with this brush, there simply was none. If you have fine hair, and recognize any of my story in your own experience, this is the brush for you -- the price seems extravagant I know, but after all, you'll only brush your hair twice a day for the rest of your life, right? Since my hair is so fine, these days I use plenty of mousse to get some body in it, and this hair brush combs right through all that stiff product at the end of the day; no tangles, no problems. It simply works. Love it.
