| When everyone is saying the same thing its probably true!, July 29, 2008 |

I am a Black American who had gotten disgusted with my hair, relaxing it for over 20 years. As I have aged my hair has not been able to take all of the harsh chemicals associated with relaxing and hair coloring. I noticed my hair was shedding a lot and had lost its luster. My daughter would feel my hair sometimes and say mom your hair is so dry. Even though most people would look at my hair and say it is so long and thick, I knew that it was dead hair on my head. Anyway, after reading every single review, I decided to try the Phyto relaxer. I could not find anyone to relax my hair for me, so I relaxed my hair myself. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. My hair feels softer, not dry like it was before. It may be too soon for me to know just how long the results will last. However, I would recommend the relaxer as the best in home relaxer I have ever used.

| Thinning hair? A must, but expensive, July 24, 2008 |

Recently I was diagnose with alepecia. I am not sure if I really had it because my hair is not strong, but my balding stopped even after horrible scalp injections I had to endure. I truly recommend this product. I was afraid to use anything on my hair and because I did not know what was breaking my hair off I was afraid to use braids, weaves or anything. I read an article on V. Williams in Essence who stated she uses this product so I decided to go on the site. After reading the reviews I tried the #2 instead of the #1. It frighten me at first because it made my thinning hair bone straight. But sure enough my hair began to grow even the edges. I still see a dermatologist, but I am also continuing using the product; discoutinued injections. I wish that they offered a discount after you purchase a certain amount, but truly a must and I feel safe using it.

My shedding was bad enough to make a sweater!!! I was so worried I was shedding severely before I relxaxed, after, Oh and of course when I was due for relaxer that was the worst shedding. I was going to see a Doctor. I made it up in my mind that the relaxers had to go. I was so not ready to go natural after all my hair had grown brastrap length but was becoming incredibly thin. Today I am purchasing this product for the 2nd time and I could not resist to write a review I so owe it to the makers of the product to say I am NEVER EVER BUYING ANOTHER PRODUCT FROM ANY ONE ELSE!!!!!! I am sold I am a customer for life! I have stopped shedding after the first application of the relaxer. So I had to save for this next shipment and the true test is how long can I go before my next touch up before I start shedding. The last relaxer was in December and it is now May I can't believe it, no uncontrollable itching, shedding DAMN this is some good stuff. Only problem too expensive I won't be able to buy it as often but it will be the only relaxer I will ever buy.

I ordered The PhytoSpecific relaxer-(Index 2) about a week ago, after carefully researching the internet for reviews, and comments from other people who had tried it. All of the comments I read were very favorable. Upon receiving it, (thank you, Hair Boutique!) I took my product kit to my stylist for application. I am an African American female with coarse, unprocessed hair that I have been getting pressed at the hair salon for the past 4 and a half years. I was very skeptical about the straightening power of this "non-chemical" relaxer, and went to the salon wondering if this would actually work on my virgin hair that hasn't seen a relaxer in almost five years. Let me tell you, not only was I pleasantly surprised at the results, but my hair stylist was too! The initial mixing of the botanical straightening creme (egg and soya) and the application to my hair took about 25 minutes. The application was focused on the roots first, and the last eight minutes were spent smoothing out the ends. The odor was very light, and washed out nicely with the neutraling shampoo included in the kit. My stylist did not even have to use the entire bottle of neutralizing shampoo. The milky reconstructor made my hair feel like silk! I sat under a warm dryer for about 30 minutes, to dry out the rollerset. I did feel the straightening creme tingle the scalp just a bit in the front of my hairline, but overall, the straightening process was painless, and odorless. That alone, makes it all worthwhile! When the rollers came out, the curls were crisp and shiny, just as if I had gotten a press and curl, but without the heat. The end results were fabulous!!!! I am so happy that I finally got enough nerve to actually try this product. This is one of the best kept secrets on the market for black women who want to use a non-chemical plant-based creme relaxer in their hair to achieve straightness. I highly reccommend it!!! You will not be disappointed!!

I've first read about this product in the Essence magazine, and i decided to pruchase it. Even though it was expensive and way out my budget. I still went ahead and got it anyway, wondering how different this perm can be from the other perm I've use? I hope this work i said to myself on the way to the hairdesser.My goodness!!I must say it is awesome my hair look shiny , bouncy, and really striaght. I will never go back to using those other perm. You know what? Just try it, you have nothing to lose, yes it is 60 bucks, but don't take our word go ahead try it ,you and everyboby else will see the different in just one application, I did!!!

I just used the phytorelaxer and let me tell you I am hooked! My hair is medium length overall good condition and it has NEVER felt like this before. My hair is full of body, soft, shiny, and silky feeling...it has added length to my hair. I will NEVER EVER use lye/no-lye relaxers again! I am very impressed and will use this product again!!!

| Expensive but worth it!, October 1, 2007 |

My 12 year old daughter had long, extremely thick, frizzy curly hair that was next to impossible to get a comb through even when wet. I contacted a local salon that used phyto products and they recommended the phyo relaxer no. 1 for her hair, and I ended up paying nearly three hundred dollars for them to do it there in the salon. It did relax her curls somewhat, and her hair was much easier to comb through when it was wet and conditioned, however it was still very curly when dry and still difficult to flat iron without ending up puffy. After about 3 months, I decided to order the phyto 2 relaxer and try doing it myself at home. I did half her hair at a time as it takes a long time to apply the product because she has so much hair. I know the instructions said not to apply over previously relaxed hair, but I did a test section on her hair and it seemed fine so I proceeded with her whole head. Other than that I followed the instructions carefully, and this resulted in her hair going from very curly to soft waves, and reduced the volume (puffiness) of her hair a great deal. It is now effortless to comb through her wet hair, and flat ironing brings much better results. I had some product left over, and my 17 year old son who has short but also curly hair asked me to try it on his hair. He is very happy with the results also, and wants me to buy more to touch up his re-growth. I have never tried any other relaxer products so can't compare, but will definitely be ordering this again. (Helpful hint: purchase a home shampoo tray so you can have the person lean back to the sink to rinse out the product - I found one online for less than $15.00)

I was little nervous about usingh the perm but my hair stylist recommend to try "PHYTO" . I order it from "www. hairboutique.com, there are wonderful the package came in 2 days. this relaxer is WONDERFUL!!!!! It doesn't burn or nothing. this is the relaxer for anyone but its little expensive but it worth it. my hair is very soft and silky. i'm sticking with "phyto" products.

I just used my PhytoSpecific-Phyto Relaxer Index 2...And, I have to say that this Relaxer is WONDERFUL!!!...Before I purchesed any Phyto products I did a lot of reasearch...I mean no one had anything bad to say about these products...The only thing that they could say bad was that they are expensive...But, my opinion is they are so worth the price!....I know I sound like a informercial right now..lol...But, This relaxer is So "On Point"!!!!...When I applied the relaxer it didn't burn my hair...It didn't have a strong odor that "Most" relaxers have...And, it straigtened my hair really well!!!...Now my hair is bouncy and soft and it looks and feels healthier than it's been in years!!!....Before I relaxed my hair It was difficult to get a wide tooth comb through it...That's how thick and coarse my hair was....But,..now the comb just glides through....This is my first relaxer in over a year..And, I honestly thought nothing but, a "Lye" relaxer could tame my hair...But, Phyto did the job with no problem!!!.....Once I purchased the perm I waited a whole week before using it....B/c even after reading all the positive reviews I still was skeptical...I was like it can't be "THAT GOOD"!!!...But, it really is!...This is the best "Home" relaxer on the market....I'm a African American woman and,...I'm so happy that I've found a relaxer I can do myself at home....This is the only relaxer I will ever use!!!!

I have thick, coarse horsehair like hair and I'll admit I was a tad skeptical. Well it totally blew me away and exceeded all my expectations. I'd never had a relaxer actually leave my hair HEALTHY before. And no matter how much humidity or how often I washed it, my hair remained STRAIGHT with this relaxer. All other relaxers just withered and died after washing a few times and never returned to their initial straightness. Not the Phytorelaxer! My hair is softer and has more "swing" than it's ever had. Didn't think that was possible with "horsehair"! The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because of the cost. But am I going to stop using it because of that? Oh heck no!

I have been used the Phyto relaxer index 2 for five years now. This product (along with the Phyto shampoo, conditioner, leave-in, and pre-treatment oil) has increased the strength and length of my hair. One problem that I found with the relaxer is that because of the thickness of my hair I cannot divide the product in half in order to do a touch-up because, I find myself running out of the product in the middle of relaxing my hair or I do not get the result that I wanted. Using the whole product and just wasting the extra has worked for me. When I have strayed away from the Phyto line of products I found my hair breaking off more and lacking luster, even though I was using other high-end product lines. Also, even though this product is expensive, I believe that it is worth the price because of its natural ingredients and the way it makes my hair look and feel. Likewise, the product does not leave my hair flat and lifeless, I get plenty of body and this makes my hair look healthy and not over-processed. My hair just looks naturally straight and beautiful. There are times when I did relax my hair and I was not satisfied with the outcome because for whatever reason it did not take (not enough time spent smoothing, not left in long enough, etc.) but that did not deter me because I have gotten more fabulous results then not. In addition, like any product, they affect people differently and not everybody will have great results but I did. Phyto products work best for me and if I find a great product that consistently gives me my desired results I tend to stick with it.

I'm back with yet another review on this relaxer.(No,I don't work for the company, wish I did than I get it for free,lol)
I started using this about 4yrs ago when I started relaxing my own hair.(shoulder length 3a/b)My scalp is so sensitive that everything I tried burn before I could start the smoothing process.I even tried a well known "safe"easy to apply relaxer that I thought would be for me, it took two applications to get it straight.When I first tried Phytospecific it was only $42,but the cost didn't matter as long as I could do it myself and not worry about my hair falling out.When it went up to $60 I tried to relax less often but was happy.I use this about every 2 months and it leaves my hair soft and alot less frizzy,with other relaxers my hair would frizz up like a fro in humid conditions.
I'm writing my third review on this relaxer because I just can't believe the difference in my hair after trying a "cheap"drug store relaxer.The expense for me was getting out of hand so I took a chance on a popular no-lye relaxer and the results were awful.My hair was brittle,dry and flat.Well,guess what ,I'll sell my clothes or work a second job in order to keep buying this relaxer.I get so many compliments when using this,eveyone says my hair is beautiful and healthy looking.So if you're thinking about the price before you purchase this,just think about how much you'll love your hair if you do.

I purchased the phytorelaxer after reading all of the reviews, and I have to say that I am now hooked. First of all the phytorelaxer did not burn my scalp at all. My hair came out so straight, shiny, and full of body. No frizz, no burns, (No Lye)... I had been an avid lye relaxer user, and not any more. I am sold on the phytorelaxer.

Photorelaxer is a very nice product! This is my very first time using this product but this relaxer is 100 times better that any relaxer that I have tried!!! Although I applied this product at home myself I would recommed for a hairdresser to apply the perm to get the best results possible. I found that the smoothing process is very very important with this perm and a profession is trained in relaxer application. I was able to smooth the back and the sides of my head but the majority of the mid section. When I was finished the relaxation process I found that the back and the sides of my hair came out very very straight except for the mid section that I did not concentrate on. Overall the relaxer works very well and you can only go wrong if you do not completely smooth out your entire hair. All the needed ingredience to beutiful hair in Phyto-Relaxer but its all in the way you smooth it. Therefore for touch up, I intend to take this phyotorelaxer to my hair-dresser to effectively smooth out my new-growth.

I have very course, dry and tightly curled thick hair (afro-puerto rican). I have never chemically treated my hair, so I wanted to to use something gentle. I used the Phyto 2 for the full amount of time just like the directions said and teh results were just okay. Not completely straight, but definitely shiny and soft. No damage. But now about four and a halfweeks later my hair is starting to get the natural curl back. But just less frizzy. I think I next time I will try something stronger.

I had been using this for 2 years when the price was still at $44. (Linda in NY - $25? WOW!! I wish I had known!). When the price shot up to $60, I was quite upset. I decided to try Mizani for my touch-up and get a flat-iron. I did it a few times and was just so sad. I could see the difference between the two. If I had not had had Phyto, I would have been happy with the Mizani result. But it was just not the same. I had to come back. So here I am. I bought it again and used it and just, WOW! I know I am not supossed to do this (and don't try it on my recommendation) but I put the relaxer on TOP of the Mizani regrowth. I am so very happy. My hair looks and feels so much better. It has shine and that "wash-and-go" quality (My hair is naturally somewhat like Rachel True of TV's Half-and-half or the singer Kelis) and straight (but can still hold a curl). It is perfect. Love it. Can't go back.

I am a pioneer user of Phytorelaxer Index 2. I can not remember the year I first used this product, but I can tell you that I was paying $25 dollars for it. Although I still use the Phytorelaxer the product has become a bit pricey over the years. I love the condition of my hair and will not use any other product; but I would be greatly appreciate Phytorelaxer's home company offer some type of discount every once in a while. I have been a personnel spoke person for this product ,I always recommend this product to anyone using a relaxer in their hair.

ok, so i read all the reveiws and wished that i had been using this product 2 yrs ago when i dicided that i would never buy a doller store perm again. i was using Rusk perm and i was great because i really did not like the bone straight look but has i used it it seemed that my hair would break off alot and i was seeing hair in some places on my head that was really short. i'm not sure if it was the perm or maybe it was that bad hair coler that i used witch really messed up my hair. but still my hair was breaking off every wear my husband even would say my hair is every where in the house. the daily thing was to whip my split ends from my shouders every time i would fix my hair. so i waited my 90 days and switch to this product and it really suprized me that my hair looks as good the difference is that it's shinner, boucer, and it's only been 2 days but my hair is not bracking off as much. it's really alot of money for me to send and my other relaxer was cheaper but you get what you pay for. i used all of it this time but next time i'll use only use half and use the other half for my next time. so really i till spend the same. i am much happier with this product and now this is what i'll use. im waiting for summer to see how it holds up to the florida summers . i think it will do great

First, I want to say I’m an avid internet shopper and I’ve only written one other testimonial. However, I had to encourage other black women to try this product. My result exceeded my wildest expectation.
I was very nervous about relaxing my hair. Over the last 12 months, I've been growing out my last relaxer ($3 one from the local mega mart). My goal was truly "wash and wear" hair. I did three strand tests before I found the right time and application technique (minimum time, finger smoothing only). My hair was fuller than I’d ever seen it after processing. It dried bouncy and curly, but a little fuzzy. I used my favorite deep conditioner (ultra black hair) a few times and styled it with my favorite wash and wear products (curly hair solutions) and wow! It’s been a month and I still don’t believe it. No one guesses this is not my hair’s natural texture. Styling involves a couple products and some water. But, the best part is I never worry about workouts, humidity, or rain. No wait, the best part is my hair isn’t shedding or breaking. Wow!

Well, last night was my second time using the phyto relaxer myself on my hair. The first time my hair came out pretty well, the back was somewhat underprocessed but it was tolerable. but my hair was still very healthy so it was all ok. Last night, my aunt and i applied the relaxer to just the new growth and smoothed like crazy for 18 minutes exactly (quite a bit of time under my last time). My front came out great. My hair has so much added length now and i've barely seen any breakage. close to none as you can get. the back is a lot better than the first time. it's not completely straight, but it has a wave when wet, but i can always flat iron it cause it's so long now and still healthy. i'm kind of scared at all the length lol. my back is so hard to straighten i'm seeing. it's just very resistant, but i can over come it. anyhoo, i still recommend everyone to switch to phyto. having hair this healthy and this full of life is great.

I had to write another review on this relaxer. I've been using this for about 2 1/2 years. Out of all the home relaxers I've tried nothing comes remotely close. I recommed this to anyone who relaxes their own hair. It's easy,doesn't burn and leaves my hair looking healthy. Through my experience I found that using half the mixture is better for touch ups than using the entire jar, even though half isn't quite enough for my whole head. If too much is applied,it comes out over-processed.
I also use the Phytolactum shampoo, Phytosesame conditioner and Phytomist leave-in conditioner and also Phytospecifc Intense Nutrition Mask. Excellent products!!
I also Have to add that Hairboutique is the best I found to order from. I've tried other sites who also carry Phyto but no one compares to the excellent, prompt service of Hairboutique!

I purchased the phyto relaxer 2 (coarse). The relaxer (I have been relaxing my hair for years) as far as I could tell did not relax the curl. I think that the product is not strong enough for my hair type. I just wanted to try this product because I read all the reviews but it just did not do the job. I don't mind paying that much for a relaxer but it has to work. I wanted to try and alternative to the other relaxers.

I know what you may be thinking...everybody is probably being paid by the company to say so many nice things about this relaxer...Well, I am not a company employee and wouldn't dream of doing this to my sisters! I am someone with really thick, #4 type hair, and I can't say enough about how great my hair is doing. I put in Phyto about a month ago, and my hair is still the desired texture I relaxed it to. I didn't want it super-straight, and love how wavy and soft my hair is--no breakage, no problems. I even put in some braids several weeks ago, and haven't experienced any problems at all. Today, I came online to buy some more Phyto products--shampoo, conditioner, and another box of the Index 2 relaxer for the next time I touch up my hair. I wouldn't even think about going to the local beauty supply and buying some cheap $3-$5 box of relaxers any more. Phyto is well worth the investment, and for Black women and how we love and desire to have healthy, strong, growing, shiny hair--it is worth every dime! Stop hesitating on Phyto and hook yourself up, okay.

I have never used any phyto product before but I tried this relaxer because of the other great customer reviews. Getting my hair relaxed in a salon didnt work for me, but this phytorelaxer was absolutely amazing. I used it the night before leaving on a trip to california and not only did my hair turn out perfectly straight without any frizz, it cut my stlying time in half! Best product, i will definitely order again.

I would never get another cheap relaxer if someone paid me to put it in my hair. I'm never using anything else ever again. I applied the Index 2 last night. Granted, the back is very underprocessed, but I didn't smooth it enough as I should have. I'll probably use the second half of the jar and do the back again in a few days. (Make sure you smooth all your hair without stopping. Just letting the relaxer sit does NOTHING) My hair came out super soft and pretty shiney. It looks like my hair grew in this way. It's pretty wavy/curly, but i could totally blowdry it straight really easily. It has wonderful texture and it's very flexible. It's also super strong. There's hardly been any breakage. I applied it and smoothed for 20 minutes total time. There was absolutely no burning at all. However, I did base most of my scalp with the corn oil that comes with the kit. There is no reason for other women to settle for anything less.

Yes this relaxer is more expensive than the average over the counter kit, but in this case you get what you pay for. For starters, the subtle smell makes Phytospecific a pleasure to work with. As the relaxer is being applied and smoothed, you can really see it going to work. I have very coarse, hard to relax hair and this really does an amazing job. Today was my second touchup and the results just keep getting better. My hair is straight, it looks and feels healthy and it's got body and bounce I haven't seen in years. As the ultimate testimony, my husband who walks in from a long day at work looks at me and says "Wow, your hair looks great, honey!" The only recommendation I would make is for the company to make the measuring process for touchups a little easier. The directions stress how important exact proportions are, but trying to measure half of 7.60 fl oz of a creamy substance was a little tricky (plus, it seemed like less than that). But all in all I am a new found Phyto-fan! It's great to try a product that lives up to its promises.

PhytoSpecific Phytorelaxer Index 2 is the only relaxer that I will put in my hair. I don't care that it's expensive and hard to find. IT IS THE BEST! After years of improperly applied and maintained relaxers, I wore my hair natural for 3 years. I loved the styling versatility of relaxed hair, and my hair grew quickly when I relaxed it, but I hated the inevitable shedding, breakage, and dryness that would occur after touch-ups. Today, I applied the Phytorelaxer to my 4b, dense, kinky hair, and the results are nothing short of miraculous! My hair is soft, shiny, and perfectly straight, with no hint of damage. I am planning to make this product part of my hair growth and care regimen. It works beautifully. I am going to tell every Black woman I meet about it!

I have been using the Phytorelaxer for over 2 years. While the price is somewhat high, it is the best thing on the market to relax your hair. I continue to use it and recommend it to my friends. I am glad to see so many online retailers selling the product!! When I started using it you could only buy it at Neiman's and Sephora.
If you have any doubt about the product, call PHYTO....the customer service reps are knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I would caution users to get professional help by a stylist or someone who is experienced in applying relaxers.

my hair was very very curly.. but not like a cute spiral curl.. it was unmanagable curls that forced me 2 flat iron my hair every morning which put my hair under alot of pressure.. i called my hair specialist and she said it would not be a good idea 4 me 2 get it chemically striaghtened since i have color in my hair. i tryed this product and it was wonderful! already.. (and it has been less then one hour since i finished putting this product in my hair) i hae seen great results.. my hair is drying straight and frizzless..something that it has never done b4.. this product is great! it is also cheaper and healthier than getting it done chemically.. i recomend this product 2 any body!!

I have frizzy coarse asian hair and I have had my hair straightened a lot in the past but have never been really happy with the results. Therefore, I have put up with hair that would frizz and curl every time it rains or after a workout. However, after reading the reviews on this product, I thought I would give it another shot. I had considered the Japanese thermal straightening but the cost of it is just ridiculous. Anyway, this is the best product i have ever used, my hair is shinier and softer than ever. No strong chemical smells, my hair is straight yet it still has body, it's not pin straight and flat. I just LOVE it!!! I just wish that I have discovered this product a long time ago.

OK....so here it is the rainiest week of the winter, and for the first time in my life I am not fighting frizz!!! I am so happy with this product. I am 44 years old, white, of European Jewish heritage, and have "type 3B" hair. After living with the same layered curly look for the last 15 years, I have been trying to grow out my hair for the past year. I teach aerobics and sweat quite a bit, so I find that I have been mostly wearing my hair tied back. Styling my longer hair had become a huge chore, taking close to an hour at a time....and then all for nothing once it starts to rain or once I workout....argh....I had decided either to cut it off again, or try thermal reconditioning....but the expense of the latter was a big deterrent. I found out about this product by searching the internet, so I was a little scared. Well, all that I have read from these other reviews is true!!! The process took only about one hour. My husband helped to apply the product which he described as being like "speading cream cheese" . I experienced absolutely no discomfort to my scalp or skin during the relaxing step. The only part that I found tedious was the neutralizing phase, which required a very long shower with multiple reapplications of the foamy neutralizing shampoo. I immediately felt a difference when I was rinsing out the product; and I experienced no hair loss. When I came out of the shower, I could tell that the product had worked.....my hair was straight! When it was dry I couldn't believe how shiny it looked, and it still had nice body and a very soft wave (I didn't want it completely straight). The best thing is, when I go out in the rainy weather and after a sweaty intense workout, I do not look like I stuck my finger in an electric socket! I just brush it out and it looks great! I am already saving so much time. I feel like I gave myself a makeover. Since just one week has gone by, I am not sure when I will need to "touch up" the new growth, but I will definitely continue to use this wonderful product.

I looked for a while for a product that would straighten my hair completely without damaging it. I had been getting my hair relaxed for years. I liked my hair when I came from the hair dresser, but if I tried to do my hair myself, it would not look as good. I talked to my hair dresser and told her that I wanted hair that was totally straight without having to add heat to it. I told her that I wanted hair that would look as great when I did it as when I went to the beauty shop. I simply wanted straight hair that was easy to do. She told that if a relaxer got your my completely straight, it would damage the hair and make it lifeless. At that point, I decided to look for something else if relaxers couldn't do what I wanted. I grew my hair out without chemicals so that I could get "thermal reconditioning". I was going to get it, but when I reconsidered the fact that I would have to wait 3 months to get a touch up, I decided to look for other alternatives. I found the Phytorelaxer and I decided to try Index 2. My hair looks great. I do it myself. People are so surprised when I tell them that I do it myself. They tell me that I must have naturally straight hair. I tell them that I just use a great relaxer. People who cut my hair either believe that I truly have a great relaxer or they beleive that I have naturally straight and healthy hair. This is the best relaxer that I've seen and it's much less expensive than thermal reconditioning, even if you have a hair dresser apply it for you.

This is by far the best relaxer I have ever used. After 2 years of wearing braids, I didn't want to think about trying a relaxer on my newly grown virgin hair. A type 4a/4b, frustrated with not being able to wear my hair natural without having to use heat to keep it manageable, I did tons and tons of research and came across this product. I was desperate for something, and after reading the product information and rave reviews, I decided to give it a try.
I nervously applied the relaxer (No. 2 strength) myself and I was shocked at how silky and healthy my hair was. I workout alot and sweat heavily, and the results are still the same! This product is incredibly true to it's claims, ladies. The only negative was not having quite enough relaxer from the 1 jar to relax my entire head; but that's not even noticeable!
The product is also tough to work through when smoothing, so I'll probably have a professional apply the next relaxer to my new growth. I just did my daughter's hair, and my husband says our hair looks the healthiest he's ever seen it. Many thanks to the creators of this great product. It's the best by far!!!

I have "Oprah" hair that is extremely porous, coarse and thick. I've used MANY MANY relaxers over the last 20 or so years, and this relaxer is, by far, the best! Both me and my stylist were shocked when she applied it and my hair started breaking down - almost instantly. The results were amazing - lots of shine, body and no spots where the hair was not completely relaxed. Up until last month, I had been getting relaxers every 4 weeks due to some breakage and my natural hair texture it was almost unbearable to wait any longer! I am happy to report that I am entering week 4 today, and will be able to last at least another 2 weeks until my retouch with no problem! I would recommend this relaxer for all of the 4b and above hair types out there - you will NOT be disappointed. I actually have been using Phytospecific styling products for over a year now - every since I read in Essence that Oprah uses the Moisturizing Styling Balm, so I also highly recommend that item as a daily moisturizer for the hair and the Revitalizing Treatment for use on a dry scalp.

After doing plenty of THOROUGH research on this Phyto Index 2, I began using it five months ago. I typically relax my hair every 5-6 weeks, so the number of times it has been applied to my hair so far is 3. I always only allow my hair stylist apply my relaxers so when I brought it to him, he was EXTREMELY skeptical. I had to BEG him to put it in my hair (he is completely "old school").
After the first time and I came back, he was still skeptical, but his "shampoo lady" was convinced.
After the second time he was beginning to crack but still leary.
After the third application, he couldn't deny how beautiful the texture of my hair was and how fast and long it has become!
I cannot wait for my "old school"-relaxed hair finally grows out and gets cut off, because the difference between the regular-old-relaxed hair and my new Phyto-relaxed hair is TREMENDOUS! Whenever I don't use my Phytodefrissant relaxing balm and it is humid outside, my Phyto-relaxed hair is untouched and remains beautiful and shiny, while the portion of my old-relaxed-hair is completely FRIZZED OUT! Ugggh!!!
However, using this relaxer, along with the Phytodefrissant Relaxing Balm every time you wash your hair, immediately before drying it or styling it, leaves my hair unbelievably silky and naturally shiny. I repeat: NATURALLY SHINY. That means I NEVER spray oil sheen in my hair anymore and the shine I have in my hair is no comparison to the artificial and greasy SHEEN (not shine) that oil sheen leaves in your hair.
Ladies with all types of curly hair cannot understand why my hair naturally blows in the wind and why it is so full of lusture! Even I don't recognize my hair anymore!
Whenever they ask, I simply tell them to prepare their pockets for Phyto because once they begin using Phyto products, they will never allow anything else to touch their hair. Good luck, everyone. On discovering your new hair :-)

I'm an African-American woman (32) years old and I used over the counter relaxers and suffered from lots of shedding. My once gorgeous, thick hair of my youth was all on my bathroom floor. Well, today I applied my Phyto Index 2 and look out world, here I come! My hair looks WONDERFUL! It is so soft and shiny -- everything the reviews said it would be. I was shocked. I was so frightened to try it, but it was that or keep losing my hair. My hair would grow and within a month it was shedding, so it was growing long and thin! Yuck! Even though this is my first application, I see the light at the end of the tunnel. I got salon results at home. It was worth the money. Yes this relaxer is much more expensive than a regular drug store relaxer, but about the same as a salon relaxer (in African American shops). So...it was a great purchase! You won't be disappointed. My hair is thick (or was before it was shed all over my bathroom floor this past year or so) and a little coarse, not too nappy, but I definitely needed a relaxer, unless I wanted to wear it natural afro. I was very skeptical even though a woman of color was on the Index 2 BOX. I had my neice apply it like you would any relaxer (no on the scalp; from the root and just on the new growth). Well, it turned out superb. I kept asking her "Did it straighten". Well, there is no harsh order (it's much lighter than the usual over the counter relaxer or drug store relaxer -- well it's smelled better than the salon relaxer). Also -- I tried the VITAFORCE or Creme Bath conditioner. Wow -- it was rich and creamy and my hair was hydrated. It is so rich in the jar you almost want to eat it -- it looks yummy (but DON'T EAT IT! ). I applied it all over my hair and sat under the cap dryer for 15 minutes for it to penetrate (although it didn't say to do that, but from my experience a little heat is usually a good spark to most conditioners). It doesn't feel dry and rough like it did before. I always use oils and stuff because it feels dry, but I knew I needed a better conditioner -- that did the trick. My husband was floored that I looked so great with an at home relaxer kit. I look like I went and had it applied at a salon. I can't say enough. I am now ready to try other items in the Phyto line. Lastly, even when I relaxed my hair before, I still had shedding -- it never stopped. I actually combed my hair a few times today and nothing. I'll check back in and write more later. Thanks for the PHYTO! Now, I'm just wondering how do I reach every African-American woman and turn her on to this. I am convinced that the severe breakage I've seen in the African-American community and 'bad rap' relaxers have is because the relaxers are all wrong for us. Every woman needs PHYTO. I studied the ingredients of PHYTO and they are 100% better than the regular LYE relaxers that eat our hair out over time. So, thanks HairBoutique & PHYTO!

I've just about tried every relaxer,lye and no-lye and have gone to professional salons.I have a very sensative scalp and have always had trouble with burning before the relaxer has time to process.I'm part American Indian and African American,to give you an idea of my hair texture,and without relaxed hair,my hair is very wavy and frizzy.I like my hair straight but not bone straight and I was tired of all the chemicals.I tried another non-chemical relaxer and the process was too time consuming and left my hair very dry and breaking off at the roots.I was so anxious to try Phytospecific because of the positive reviews and was highly recommended for sensative scalps.The first time I used the Index 2 which left my hair silky and soft,although around the hair line seemed to be overprocessed I still loved the outcome because it didn't burn half as much as other relaxers.My hair did start to feel dry about 6 wks later.The 2nd retouch, I used the index 1,thinking maybe the Index 2 was too strong for my hair type.I had to use 2 boxes because it hardly straightened my hair.I am now sticking with Index 2,which after the 2nd try,I'm convinced it's the relaxer for me.I also use the Phytojoba shampoo,Phytomist and Phyto 7 to help keep my hair moisturized,and those products are great!!So if you've been searching for a relaxer thats better for your hair and sensative scalp..look no further.

My hairstylist in Fort Lauderdale, Fl began using phyto products on my hair while I was visiting for the summer. However, when I returned home, the product was not sold anywhere in New Orleans. A few months went by without using phyto and my hair began to have that stressed look and feel. I found this product being sold on the internet and had it delivered express to my home. Ladies if you love your hair like I do, you've got to you phytospecific products. I am just a student and I thought I was going overboard buying this expensive product but I value my hair and so I took the risk. After retouching my hair, it was shiny and full of volume and yes, beautiful too. The only mistake I did was not to wash my hair a week before I retouched and so because I had scratched the scalp and so I got burns here and there. So ladies just follow instructions to the end and you won't be disappointed.

I have had my hair professionally relaxed off and on over the years. I've always heard that it is better to have a lisenced cosmetologist put chemical treatments in hair. I have to say that no matter who I went to or how much I paid, hoping for better results from more expensive treatments, my hair has never been as straight nor as healthy as it is right now.
The first thing I did was give myself one month to deep condition my hair. I have VERY delicate hair by nature. My hair is the type where the ends break off of the strands. Very frustrating. I had a friend put the product into my hair because I figured that I would miss some areas. She then carefully smoothed my hair with the back of a comb, rather than combing through. After processing we were both astounded.
After washing and air drying my hair it has a lot of body and is very silky. I have a lot of hair and it is wonderful not to have to fight with the bulk of it all of the time. That, plus the fact that it would tie itself into tiny knots at the ends of the strands, seemed to put the most stress on my hair. My goal is to be able to grow my hair to past my brastrap. My hair texture is 3b/c and is currently past my shoulders. I feel that without the stress that I had to put my hair through on a daily basis that I will accomplish my goal.
I've also gotten the Vital Force Shampoo and Creme Bath as well as the Revitalizing treatment and the Phytomist. The shampoo is very gentle and conditioning. The conditioner is extremely rich and thick. I use the Revitalizing Treatment before I shampoo as well as a little on the ends of my hair. Every day I spray my hair with _Phytomist_which_Smells_Amazing_. This combination plus the Phytorelaxer itself has made it so that I have less breakage than I normally do with natural hair! A huge THANK YOU to the people at Phyto!!!

This product delivers what it promises. The application process was a bit tricky if you're attempting to embark on this adventure yourself, but do-able. Be careful to know what you're getting into before applying. I was a bit freaked out at first when I saw that my hair wasn't in spiral curls when wet. It was very heavy and dry. But with a ton of conditioner and a day to allow it to relax without any harsh products, blowdrying and using a straightening iron; I am happy with the results. Myhair wasn't really coarse or thick, but lots of spiral curls and frizz without any products or god formid a humid day, like everyday living in the south. After relaxing with this product it took alot less time to blow dry straight, I didn't need my flat iron, and absolutely no frizz through out the entire day and amongst wet rainy conditions. And with the right products and a diffuser I was able to wear it with some wavy strands and NO FRIZZ! Amazing! The only aspect of the product that I didn't enjoy was the application process and the heaviness of my hair when wet. I don't recommend this product to someone who's hair is in a damaged state. Mine wasn't at all and it still dried my ends out quite a bit. And make sure you're ready for straight hair. I think I'll try the Index One next time for my touch up. Other than that,,totally worth the money. Pretty amazing results, I admit I'd do it again :)

| This Product is 5 Stars With Some Caveats! Read Below., September 19, 2003 |

OK. So here is the deal. This is a great product IF and this is a big IF, the instructions are followed to a T and a patch test is DONE FIRST.
I have several friends who have used this product. Only 2 have had any problems with it BUT they did not read the instructions or follow the directions.
One of my friends, applied this product w/out doing a patch test first to very bleached blonde hair. Her hair got more dry but it was already pretty damaged before she applied the relaxer. In fact, her hairstylist warned her NOT to apply any more chemicals of any type, relaxer or perm or color, until her hair recovered from the previous bleach damage. My friend ignored all the warnings, didn't do a patch test and slapped the Relaxer all over her head. And yes she had some breakage. But DUH. She admits that she totally ignored the warning not to apply more chemicals to her damaged hair. She also admits that she did not read the instructions first. So she had a less than wonderful experience but that is her responsiblity.
I had another friend who did not apply a protective cream or oil to her skin and yes, she was careless and got some onto her skin and it slightly irritated it. But again, she did not follow the directions on the box for dealing with getting the product on her skin and if she had read the instructions before she started, it would not have happened in the first place.
Geez you can't expect to use a chemical relaxer that will alter your hair's texture and then be shocked that it is a chemical. You need a chemical to achieve the relaxing/straightening and while this product is very gentle it is a chemical. That is why is WORKS.
All of my other friends did out treatments together at a Phyto Relaxer bash. We helped each other, read the directions and we had really great results. We also watched old movies and ate popcorn. It was a blast and our hair turned out exactly as the directions promised.
The morale to this review which is very very long is that:
1. Read the instructions very carefully FIRST before you start.
2. Do a patch test FIRST
3. Apply a cream around your face and skin to prevent burning
4. Follow the instructions and DO NOT apply directly to the scalp. They do warn about this anyway.
5. Never ever apply a relaxer or chemical to your hair no matter how gentle IF you have prior bleach or hair color or perm damage. If you had a previous TR or other relaxing treatment, see your stylist before applying the product because slapping the Phyto on over a recent TR head of hair could be troublesome and cause breakage.
Finally, if you have problems because you didn't read the directions or take the time to research if this would be right for your hair, don't bitch and moan and blame Phyto. After all, they go way out of their way to provide great instructions and details. If you don't read them then relaxing consumer beware.
Phyto rocks.

Very skeptical from the beginning, but after I use this
product for the first time, I am a believer.
My hair has never look so straight after any relaxer, by
me or my stylist. It has more shine, body and feels like
silk, NO JOKE... And I've also been in the rain, and it
hasn't frizzed. My hair has taken on a whole new texture
it's the healthiest I've seen it since I don't know when.
I am very happy with this relaxer and I think all Afro-
American women will benefit Greatly to just try index 2 relaxer. It will change how you look and feel immediately...

This product is incredible. I live in London, UK, so the only place I could find this product was Selfridges, it cost about £25. I got my boyfriend (a hair straightening novice) to do it and although at one point it smells of ammonia when you mix the two solutions, my hair felt different straight away. It is now 2 months since I did it. I used to have wavy, unruly, damaged hair. I had a trim a few days after I relaxed it and now my hair is very very soft, very straight, much more manageable and in much better condition. I haven't used any other relaxers but this is all natural and I wouldn't use anything else.

I did a lot of research into this product before I bought it. It was quite difficult to find, but Selfridges in London sell the relaxer set, so I bought it there for £25. My boyfriend (a complete novice) did the application for me. Once the lotions are mixed it does smell like ammonia and I thought it might ruin my hair. Once it was finished (in total the application took about 45mins) my hair was much softer and much straighter than before. I got my hair trimmed a few days later just to get rid of some dry ends that had accumulated from over-proccessing my hair before I used the relaxer.
Well, it is now 2 months later. My hair is the softest, shiniest, straightest and most manageable it has ever been in my life (previously it was moderately curly but unmanageable). I would recommend this product to anyone wanting to relax their hair. I have also since found out that quite a few salons in London use Phyto products, so I might get my roots redone professionally.

This product is great and worth every single penny. I will no longer go to salons for this service that I can do myself. Why? (1) I get better results! My hair is so smooth and silky. It feels healthier and stronger too. (2) $$$ Granted this relaxer is more expensive than others on the market, its still cheaper than visiting a salon. I don't mind paying money for something that works and is great for my hair. I did have to wash my hair SEVERAL times before the neutralizing shampoo turned white but the end results were fantastic. My hair was full of body and shine and I just love it. Looking forward to trying other products by Phytospecific. Hopefully they will introduce their skincare line to the US soon.

Hi, my purpose for using the relaxer was more to make my hair more manageable not necessarily straight. I'm latina. I have naturally very curly coarse hair. In the summer it gets very frizzy and it's so hard to take care of it. I just wanted something that would make my curl looser. I have tried other anticurl products and they did not work on my hair texture. This product was perfect. I didn't leave it as long as the box suggests it because I didn't want straight hair (plus, I didn't want too much damage), and it was great afterwards. My hair is still curly, but it is so much nicer and the curls are looser. Also, after a month, I haven't noticed any breakage or anything, so I'm very pleased. I would definitely recommended if you are looking for more manageable hair.

Okay, excuse my excitement, but this is the best relaxer I have ever used in all of my 10+ years of chemically straightening my hair. I am 24, African American with type 4a hair. For all of you in the know, that means that my hair grows in a type s pattern. Anyway, I finally ordered this relaxer after countless research on the web and reading these reviews. I just relaxed my hair last night, and today wow… I applied it myself and then carefully did the smoothing process. The entire thing took about 30 or so minutes. My hair has never been so straight and thick at the same time. It is really healthy looking and FEELING. Extremely soft. I could just go on and on. One thing I didn’t like is that after I washed and began to dry I had these little hard white things in my hair. But that all came out as my hair air dried and I gently combed, so make sure you are thorough with the washing and rinsing process. Anyway, this has got to be the relaxer that celebrities use because it is gentle, fast, and it straightens great without taking out any body. I will definitely be using this for my next touch up. BTW…I had no idea my hair had grown so much. Thanks so much Phyto and HairBoutique, I’m getting comments already.

| My God, My Hair is Straight!, April 12, 2003 |

I have naturally coarse hair that I had be flat ironing to get straight. This is okay during the winter, but during the summer, this does not work, so usually I would try a relaxer. I have tried many many many (I think 10 brands) to get the result I wanted and it they were okay. I have a sensitive scalp as well so when I would go get the thing (relaxer) done. My scalp would just burn and burn. The stylists would be like "honey, if you want it straight, then it is goint to burn). Yeah, that's right. So anyway, I had decided to not go through it this summer but it got hot last week (it is late winter/early spring) and my hair kept going back every day. I didn't want to damage my hair or take the time with the flat iron every day. I use the defrisant from Phyto and was looking for anti-humectanct products when I came across the relaxer. I had seen it before but figured it was just another relaxer and never paid mind to it. But I read a few reviews on it and decided to go ahead and try it. Why not, I thought. I went out and bought it the same day and tried it (index 2). I just finished putting it in and OH MY GOD! I rarely do it at home because I am not partial to bald spots. I left it in shorter than the max time (usually the relaxer is left in the whole time, then some to get it as straight as I prefer). Ladies - I washed it out - my hair was soooooooo shiny and extremely straight and soft. I put the conditioner in and washed it out expecting all that beautiful shine and straightness to go. NOPE - still there!! I aired dried my hair in rollers (with a bit of phyto serum). I was a bit nervous, wondering if I'd be disappointed. Ladies - I tell you. That was the best relaxer ever. Didn't burn, supurb straightness, soft shiny, easy!!!!! I will even do it in the winter! The best - will never ever change. Never!!

| PhytoSpecific – Phytorelaxer is the best!, January 28, 2003 |

I’ve read so much about PhytoSpecific – Phytorelaxer.
I find a professional salon here where I live (in Europe) and it is the only salon that uses PhytoSpecific – Phytorelaxer in the whole country.
I had my hair relaxed with PhytoSpecific – Phytorelaxer # 2 and after paying a lot of money it did not make my hair any straighter! But it did leave it soft and shiny.
Obviously I was not too happy with the results.
My partner went to Paris and got me PhytoSpecific – Phytorelaxer #2 (€25.00) as a gift but I was reluctant to use it again. It was done professionally and it did not work and you are telling me I can doing at home and it would, don’t think so!!
To cut the long story short, after 10 weeks after my last relaxer my partner decided to do it for me at home but I did not want to try this product again but thought what the heck, I have it here at home anyway.
We left it only for 20 minutes instead of 25.
I could tell while I was washing it, it was softer and straighter than the first time.
This is my third day and I actually cannot believe it. It has worked a 100 times better than the professional salon and I only used quarter of the product!
My partner is a computer engineer but he did a better job than the professional salon.
My hair has never been this shiny, soft or straight.
PhytoSpecific – Phytorelaxer is the best and it cost me only the quarter of the product so I have three more uses in it!
PhytoSpecific products are half as cheap as what I see on the net!

I have been relaxing my hair with store bought brands for about 20 years now. I recently ordered and tried the Phytorelaxer index 2 and I will never use another relaxer again. I usually get some scalp and skin burns but not this time and the smell is very mild. My hair is straighter and softer than it has ever been from any other brand. If you want to relax your hair this is definetely the one to use.

I hope I do not sound like a commercial but I'm seriously when I say that this product works wonderfully. My hair is made up of two drastically different textures. One side is extremely curly and the other is actually very close to straight (I guess it's a result of all the different races in my family tree. Well because of my hair texture I have never had a good hair salon experience. Never!!!! I've always ended up with the curly side not being straight enough and the straight side being damaged as a result of relaxers used. Oh and my hair is very thick so it takes quite awhile to dry. Eventually I got fed up with everyone making a mess of my hair and decided I was going to take care of it by myself. The first thing I did was find a relaxer that was easy to use. I ended up trying the Phytorelaxer and after using it 3 times I noticed a big difference. Besides for being easy to use it left my hair with a more nautural texture then the plastic straight doll hair I use to get from the regular relaxers. My hair was straight and shiny but it had better body. Also it took less time to dry. The best part was the fact that it did not burn. At every salon I tried (and I have tried a lot) I always ended up with a sore scalp. Well this stuff cause no pain. As I mentioned before my hair is THICK so it takes a while to get my whole head done. So even though I take longer to follow the steps then what is suggested in the instructions I still end up with good results.
So everybody save the money, hassle and pain and use this stuff. I doubt anyone will be as good to my hair as I am.

I couldn't be more pleased with this product. It was easy to use and the results are incredible! I have the hair I always wanted, and it takes less than 5 minutes to dry and style! Today was the real test (I relaxed my hair 4 days ago) because it is rainy and really humid - normally my worst hair day. Bu today I have NO frizz, and my hair looks great.
My only regret? That I didn't try this product sooner.

I am allergic to relaxers, any attempt to relax my hair always resulted in massive hair loss, despite the product. As a result, I had not relaxed my hair in over 10 years and straightening my hair became a chore that took HOURS. I came across Phytorelaxer during a web search and decided to look into it. I'll admit I was nervous about using the product but tried it anyway. Wow!! Not only do I still have all my hair, but it's soft, shiny, and it doesn't frizz in the humidity (we get A LOT of humidity in the summer here). I am overjoyed with this product, now it takes a few minutes to do my hair, and I have not had one bad hair day since I used it about a month ago!!!

I've relaxed my hair before but never was satisfied with the results until now. I have never had a chemical treatment make my hair SOFTER and SHINIER! This relaxer contains no toxic products and is all natural. For something all natural, it really does a wonderful job. My hair prior to relaxing was thick, curly and absolutely frizzy. I live in Houston where it is ALWAYS humid. This product makes my hair resist humidity 100%. My hair is bone straight, even out of the shower. It only takes me now 10 mins to fix my hair compared to the 40 mins it used to take me to straighten it. And using a straightening iron with this makes your hair appear very silky too. This is the absolute best at home relaxing kit ever. You do not need to go to a salon to achieve beautiful straightness anymore! No question about it!

I have super thick hair but my hair never look right with razor thinning. So it was suggested that I try this Phyto relaxer to help "compress" my thick curly strands. I was very skeptical. But I like Phyto7 and so decided to give it a whirl. I not only got a handwritten thank you note from Karen Shelton (does this women never sleep?) but I also got a small gift of hair jewelry that was darling. My package must have been delivered by aliens w/ jet packs because I got the package in 1 day. The BEST part is the product. My hair is sleek, smooth and about 50% less bulk. I am amazed. I did my hair today, and it feels good. The efficient shipping by Hair Boutique is phenomenal, and so are Phytospecific products. This line was developed in France by a firm that hired an African woman, a chemist, to develop a product line. The products are a worldwide sensation. I read about it in Divas, a French magazine. I also recommend the intense nutrition conditioner - mask. The rich, luxurious creme makes my hair baby soft in about ten minutes.

I tried this product after I priced the Yuko System and was told it would cost me close to $1,000 to have my moderately curly hair chemcially straightened. A friend told me that the price on this at-home relaxing kit was less than $75 and that I could get it in 2-3 days from HairBoutique.com because they ship super quick. What did I have to lose? I ordered it on a Monday morning and had it by Wednesday at noon. Which is amazingly fast. I applied the treatment by myself. The result was soft, shiny relaxed hair with almost no curls. I still blow dry to get perfectly straight but have cut down my required blow drying by 75%. Excellent product & easy to use. I just started using some of the Phyto shampoo products and they are great as well.

This product did wonders for my hair I have a very sensitive scalp and usually cannot leave the relaxer in for more than 10 minutes and not burn, but with this relaxer I was able to leave it in for the required time and not have any burns and my hair was straighter than it has ever been!!
