Brooch pins, as we know them in 2005, originated from the necessity of housekeepers in grand European mansions and
houses in past eras to keep a large array of keys pinned onto their bosoms with the help of a big safety pin.
Wearing all the keys for the many doors on one giant pin was the safest way for the housekeepers to guarantee that they
could go in and out of any of the doors. Eventually the key laden safety pins evolved to the point where jewels
were added to decorate the keys. As the evolution of the key pins continued, the brooch pin emerged. Coco
Channel in the 1930s popularized the brooch by encrusting it with Austrian crystals and other semi-precious stones.
In the early 00s actual oversized safety pins resurfaced set with a virtual cornucopia of charms, semi-precious gems,
stones and crystals. The adorable jeweled accessories offered tremendous versatility pinned to a dizzying array
of surfaces ranging from newsboy and related caps to slouchy hats, lapels, coats, gowns, purses and even boots and shoes.
